KERVELAN BELT FIT
Pants Size vs Belt Size
An estimate is useful. Your actual measurement matters more.
THE SHORT ANSWER
Pants size is not a belt measurement.
Add roughly 2 inches for a starting estimate, then measure to confirm.
STARTING POINT — NOT A GUARANTEE
A pants label is only a starting point
Jeans labeled 32 do not necessarily measure 32 inches around the exact position where a belt sits. Brand sizing, trouser rise and tucked-in clothing can all change the fit.
The plus-two rule
Adding roughly 2 inches to your usual pants label gives a quick starting estimate, not a guaranteed belt size.
| Pants label | Estimate | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| 30 | 32 in | Measure the waistband position |
| 32 | 34 in | Check rise and clothing layers |
| 34 | 36 in | Compare with a belt that fits |
A direct measurement takes priority whenever it differs from the estimate.
Confirm your actual belt size
- Measure a comfortable belt from its buckle pin to the hole you use, or measure through the loops of the trousers you will wear.
- Compare that distance with the KERVELAN Size Guide. Our standard belt size is defined at the fourth (center) hole.
- Check the sizes actually available on the product page. They differ by style.
For exact measuring instructions, follow How to Measure Belt Size.
Different rises, different measurements
High-rise and lower-rise trousers sit at different body positions. Measure both if you want one belt to work with both outfits. KERVELAN's seven-hole system has 1-inch spacing, giving about 3 inches either side of the center size; both measured positions need to fall within the chosen belt's range.
Once the fit is right, choose the strap width separately. See our 28 / 30 / 33 mm Belt Width Guide.
