Everyday leather care

  1. Wipe surface dust away with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
  2. Blot any moisture gently. Do not scrub, soak or use household cleaning chemicals.
  3. Allow the leather to dry naturally, away from radiators, hair dryers and direct heat.
  4. Store flat or in a relaxed curve. Avoid sharp folds and tight coils.

These simple habits are more useful than frequent, unnecessary treatments.

Respect the finish

The current KERVELAN range uses top-grain cowhide with different surface treatments. Arden has a washed antique finish; Maren has a dyed, antiqued finish; Mercer combines dyed, washed and antiqued treatments; Rowan has a distressed, washed finish.

These finishes can react differently to cleaners or conditioners. Before using a product, confirm compatibility with the specific finish; an untested treatment may alter the color or sheen.

After water exposure and during storage

If the belt gets wet, blot it and let it air dry fully at room temperature. Do not speed drying with direct heat. Store it in a dry place without folding sharply or placing heavy items on top.

Inspect the keeper, buckle, stitching and adjustment holes occasionally. If something seems damaged, photograph the issue before attempting repairs.

Natural patina and craftsmanship

Softening, creasing and changing color can occur with regular wear. Such changes are different from a potential defect in stitching, buckle attachment or other workmanship.

The Lifetime Craftsmanship Warranty explains coverage and exclusions. For care advice or a possible craftsmanship problem, contact KERVELAN before applying a cleaner or altering the belt.
